Lake Havasu Hot Air Balloon Festival

I drove down to Lake Havasu's 3rd annual hot air balloon festival this weekend for some major sky candy!  There were about 50,000 attendees and over 50 hot air balloons launching across town.   If you are not the adventurous type, the scenery alone is worth it.  I love taking pictures and everywhere you look, there is a photographic moment waiting to be captured.  You can ride either the un-tethered balloon,  or if you are skeptical of soaring over and dipping into Lake Havasu itself, you can opt out and quickly ascend on the tethered balloon.  I tried both and neither is as intimidating as you would think.  If you haven't had the chance to attend a balloon festival.....I highly recommend it.  Enjoy the pics!!!

DIY

I love this bag simply due to the fact that my beautiful Mom gave it to me,  adding sentimental value!  It belonged to her when I was her age!   That being said.....it needed a makeover!  It is a vintage Anne Klein cross body bag.  I removed the white leather strap as well as the gold Anne Klein zipper pull from the inside.  I attached the gold charm to a gold colored bracelet and pulled it through the strap loop on the outside of the bag.  I think the gold chain adds a certain elevation to the otherwise simple design.  I then proceeded to splash multiple finger nail polishes to the leather!  I love how it turned out!!!!!  Thanks Mom for the great bag!!!!!  Let me know what you think!

First Friday

Let's face it....when you think of Las Vegas, culture isn't the first or tenth word that pops into your head.  I am quite certain that there are many other words that flow through your stream of consciousness  before culture.  However, if you took the time to visit our downtown area, I think that would quickly change.  Downtown Las Vegas has a burgeoning Arts District that is sure to impress.  If you are like myself, and like the more characteristic side of town, then you should definitely experience First Friday.  On the first Friday of every month,  the Arts District closes many of their streets and gets the party going.  Envision a block party dedicated to the artsiest and most creative people our small city has to offer.  This is an event where there is something for everyone.  Park anywhere off of Charleston street and explore all that the event has to offer.   If you are an avid vintage shopper or an art enthusiast, there are a plethora of vintage stores (old Vegas homes turned businesses) and art galleries that you can  enjoy.   You can meander in an out of galleries, go food truck hopping, enjoy some drinks, watch break-dancers, or simply people watch.  Enjoy!
